“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Ephesians 4: 29-32

What does it mean no corrupting come out of your mouths?

Corrupt:

having or showing a willingness to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain.

“unscrupulous logging companies assisted by corrupt officials”

(of a text or a computer database or program) made unreliable by errors or alterations.

corrupt

Do you know someone who talks to have personal gain?  Do they talk at you instead of to you?  Look at this list of words that are a synonym for the word Corrupt:

 dishonest,

unscrupulous,

dishonorable,

unprincipled,

unethical,

amoral

,untrustworthy,

venal,

underhanded,

double-dealing,

fraudulent,

bribable,

criminal,

illegal,

unlawful,

nefarious;

informal

Going through those words, did you notice any that are truthful with yourself?  There was a time in my life that I was a few of those above words.  And I am not proud of it.  Maybe you thought of a couple people that you know.  Maybe it is a close friend.  Does God want us to associate with these kind of people?  Should we be friends with someone who is corrupt?

I personally think God wants us to have boundaries.  He never tells us to not be friends with them.  He simply tells us not to hang out with them on a regular basis.  Ourselves will turn corrupt if we hang out with corrupt.  What do your friends seem to be like?   Are they loving? Or are they bribing, dishonest, untrustworthy, etc?

Once we are saved; it is hard to break away from the same friends we hung around.  It is hard to be tenderhearted toward people who are corrupt.  When I hung out with corrupt friends when I was in Middle School they asked me to yell things out to other students.  Did I want to? NO!  Did I mistakenly take the dare?  Unfortunately, Yes.  I felt terrible afterwards.  But, did I ever apologize? No!  Was I corrupt?  Darn straight I was!  I have no explanation as to why I would do something so cruel.  Why I would hurt someones feelings.  I was rude, inconsiderate.  Granted I did not do this a lot.  I only did it when I was around the other so called “friends”.  Which, God looking out for me, was extremely seldom.

This week check your “friends” list.  And if you have kiddos… check their friends list too.  Be aware of who your kids hang out with.  Today’s world is very cruel and if your son/daughter picks the wrong kids, they will follow how their friends are.

MUCH LOVE!!

“bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other: as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”

Colossians 3: 13-14

Do you struggle with showing love?  How do you show love to others?

These are two questions that I am struggling with at this moment.  I feel I can show more than I do.  Fact is; I know I can.  But, have I been taking the time to do it?  NO.  Our human nature does not want to give love if we think that we are not getting love.  We let anger step in loves place.  We let resentment kick into high gear and let it fly out our mouths like a jet plane.  This is a big problem of mine.  If I feel like no one in the house is showing love for God or to each other I start getting frustrated.  I get frustrated at myself.

church3

You go to church expecting love to be showered in you.  You have your smile and ready for love to shine.  Walk into church and find the meet and greet.  Seeing smiles and laughter all around.  You are seeing all the “clicks” where they always are, and with the same people every time there is something going on.  You have mingled with them a couple of times but, No Vibe.  And since your not able to go to church every weekend due to work, things start seeming like you don’t exist.  The love that you once felt when you started going there has vanished.  There is this emptiness of family that is missing.

We started going to a church and at first it was welcoming arms, smiles, joy, laughter, and family.  You could see the love in the air.  Our family has been going to this church (name unspoken) for about 6 months now.  And lately, due to my husbands work schedule, we are not able to make it every Sunday.  And since this has happened we have felt like no one cares that we are not there.  Prior to this church, we were going to yet another church that felt the same way.  But, when we did leave the prior church, not one person contacted us to see if we were ok or anything.  We do have one person holding on in our present church.  She makes sure our family is doing ok and does a random check in.  To me that is part of showing love, just showing that you care.

A lot of people today may go to church expecting to been shown care to them.  Mainly because that is one thing they have been told in the outside world that us Christians do.  And when they get to church and there was not much care given; they may NEVER step into a church again.  They walked in with high hopes of feeling wanted in life, and when they felt rejected once again they feel no need in coming back.  It is sad to say that there are Christians out there that reject people because of how they look or even how they act.  I bet each of us can think of one person that is/was mean to everyone they met.  But, did you ever think about their life?  How they are being brought up or had been brought up in their home?  They only know what they were taught in their home.  They do not know any other way.

parent not peer

Some kids today do not get much love in today’s world.  Parents are trying to be their children’s best friend instead of their parent.  Children today have a hard time. There is a lot of bullying, mocking, lying, etc.  But, most children are getting taught to do this.  They could be doing all these things because they are being treated this way at home.  The only way to release their hate from home is to turn into something they are not and make everyone around them at school feel the way they do.  It ends up making them feel better because they are not the only one going through it.

bullying

Today, I would like to give each of us a challenge and pray for all the bullies, mockers, liars, etc.  And also pray for the ones that are on the receiving end.  We need to help each other instead of looking the other direction.  Everyone needs someone.  Rather they say they don’t need anyone or not.  They want to stop being mean, angry, hateful.  They just don’t know where and how to start.  And if we all keep ignoring this fact it will continue until Jesus returns.  And on that day it will be too late.

Don’t let it be too late.  Start praying and thinking of things to do today.  Be forgiving and put LOVE ABOVE ALL THINGS!

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

John 15:9-17

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15: 12-13

Latest-Love

This verse makes you want to look at your friends list don’t it?  LOL.  But, there is a catch…  Would you lay down your life for your friends/family?  Most would say YES in a heartbeat.  But, what if I asked this, Would you lay down your life for a neighbor, the person in line behind you in the grocery store, the annoying person in the movie theater, or maybe even the people you talk to at your own church??  Some would say yes, but majority of you would honestly say probably not.  Take a second and think about that….

God laid His life for ALL of us.  He laid down His life for the drug dealers, thieves, liars, cheaters, murderers, etc.  He laid His life down to save our souls. He was mocked, brutally whipped (I about 39 times), thorns shoved in His skull, forced to carry His cross that He would be crucified on.   He took the nails and was hung on the cross for your sins.  He then hung on that cross after all the brutalness from the Romans for 3 hours.  And THEN… He died.  If dying on a cross for our sins is not love then, What is??

cross

LOVE (noun):  a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person.  (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

Jesus has a strong AND constant affection for each and everyone of us.  He loves us when we do wrong and when we do good.  Like a parent with their children; We love our children when they do wrong.  But, with that love we show discipline.  Discipline is not an act to harm someone.  It is an act us parents take to teach our children right from wrong.  Just like Jesus did and still does.

god_is_love

Is there someone you can name off right now who would lay their life down in place of yours?  I know one person already and He rose again and He is coming back to get us one day.  JESUS.  What are you doing to show your appreciation for His love He shows you?  Are you spending time with Jesus who loves you so much that HE died for you?  If you risked your life for someone out of love, wouldn’t you want to be shown love back?  What is stopping you from getting to know your heavenly Father?  What is holding your love for Him back?  What is holding back the love that you could show others in this cruel world?

Let’s get focused!  Where is your love flowing to?

Let’s show Jesus just how much we love Him for what He has and is still doing for us.

Much Love.

Week 5 Challenge: Write a note to a friend who has “sharpened” you in your faith.  Thank them for their influence, their time, mentioning specific ways they have helped.

Week 5 Memory Verse:  “bearing with one another and , if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also much forgive.  And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”  Colossians 3:13-14

I found out why I was not able to get Friday of week 4 study from good morning girls.  They changed their name.  How exciting for them.  You can get on their site at lovegodgreatly.com  As of now they are getting things organized on their site and we will not have a blog to finish with.  So for the next 3 weeks we will hibernate on my blog.  I will check in now and then on love God greatly and see if they have gotten to their past studies yet.  I am sure it will take time.  So, in the meantime, keep them in your prayers during their transition and as soon as they get their past studies up I will post it on here.

OK, on with today!!! 🙂

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.  For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.  But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”  Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10

Well, we have made it to week five and this has been an amazing study.  There is not a better time to start the week out but focusing on a great friend who has dedicated his/her time to help your relationship with Christ.  Who is your friend?  Who is the person who lifts your spirits?  Who helps pick you up when you have fallen?  Who you can honestly tell your sins you feel you can not talk to anyone else about? (Besides God of course)  Today I want to dedicate my blog to a special friend of mine.

Karen H.

karen hauer2

She is an amazing person.  She has been by my side from the day I was saved.  She has taught me God’s love for me, bible studies, how I should be a wife, and how I am held accountable for my own actions.  She is my good reward like it says in Ecclesiastes 4:9.  God crossed our paths because He knew I would need her to get me focused.  I have to admit, I was intimidated by her at first.  Mainly because she has a rock hard love for God and she does have that look of a mother.  (I didn’t want to get in “trouble” LOL.)  I love how she knows not to beat around the bush with me.  Since the very beginning she has been my reward from God.  My “present” He provided me with to keep me in line with Him.  I see her love for our heavenly Father and it motivates me to want the same thing.  She reaches out to God for things that I would normally not think of.  But, when she does it makes me think about where my heart is at that time.  (And needing a heart surgery stitched up by God’s word.)

karen hauer3

Her smile is contagious.  Who can not love to have a conversation with that smile.

About a year after I was saved Karen asked me to write my testimony out and give it to her.  (I was not exactly comfortable with this.  My past is not something that I am proud of.)  At this time I was moving 3 hours away and was not going to be able to see her often anymore.  My heart broke for our friendship.  You see, my past friends, when I moved away or did not see them all the time would vanish.  I would never hear from them again.  I would send a text or call, but never had much of a response from them.  But Karen, she is ONE IN A MILLION!!  Right as we moved I did give her my testimony.  I emailed it to her.  I was nervous for her to read it.  I right away assumed the judging would begin and our friendship would be changed.  I was worried.  After she read my testimony, we had an even more connection.  Because now, she knows me much better. I have been moved away for about 1.5 years now and our friendship is still strong.  Of course we wish we lived closer to each other.  She has not given up on our friendship and neither have I.  Karen is still my accountability partner!! She is still my reward from God.  I will be forever blessed and loved in my heart for God introducing her to me.  She is the only friend that has been there for my trials, my pain, my questions (and there has and still is many at times), and also my joy!  Every time we talk God is always apart of our conversation.  There has never been a time where we did not talk about our heavenly FATHER!!  This is one thing that is extremely important to both of us.  I could not ask for a better friend than her.

I have to brag about my friend now.  (Not that I haven’t already, but you know)…  This past Saturday (August 16, 2014) She did a triathlon.  She has been training her little tail off and did an amazing job!! She finished FIRST in her class!! Did you read that???  SHE FINISHED FIRST!!  Not only did she finish the Triathlon, she finished FIRST!!  How awesome is that?  Here are a couple of pictures that (yes, I stole off facebook) was took during her triathlon.

She looks like a natural, doesn’t she?

Karen, you are such an inspiration to many.  I love our friendship and our times together.  Thank you for everything you have done for me.  All your encouraging words and the hard words that you have told me. (I know that is not easy telling me what I need to hear but don’t want to hear it. lol) But, if it was not for you and God I would not have the heart that desires after God.

Thank you friend and love you!!

“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.  For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.  In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.  He who loves his wife loves himself.  For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,”

Ephesians 5: 22-23, 28-29

Whether you are married or not this applies to you.  Us woman have a tendency to do things OUR way.  We seem to always think our way is better.  And the men hardly ever speak up because us woman don’t allow them to.  Then when we do ask their opinion they do not have one.  I think they do, we just never consider it.  Christ tells woman to submit to their husband, and for the husband to love their wives as themselves.  Woman, this does not mean that our man can boss us around.  This simply means that decisions in a relationship should be a man’s responsibility.  Meaning- Buying a house, car, discipline, bills, projects around your home, schooling, etc.  And the man should love their woman as his own flesh.  This all means that we need to communicate with one another.  We need to discuss all the business we allow in and out of the house.  We should sit with our spouses at the table and go through our bills and figure out how much to spend with groceries and everything else you would spend money on.  (I picked bills because that is the #1 arguments between couples.)  If we do it together, we would both have an understanding with the family finances and be able to set a budget.

My husband and I sit down about once or twice a week and go over our finances.  As of right now, we just bought a house and I am a stay at home mom.  (Do photography on the side.)  We have decided that sitting down together and both of us understanding our finances is much easier on our marriage.  We sit down and give a limit til the next pay period.  We go get cash out of the bank and that is it.  When that is gone- we can NOT go to the bank to get more.  We do this with groceries as well.  It helps to not walk into a store and get more than what you go for.

With groceries, as a family, we sit at the table and ask what everyone wants for the next 2 weeks.  This way we will not have any surprise grocery trips in the middle of the week. And let’s be honest, going to a store with a list in hand helps keep the price down.

Here is a website to get you started. www.budgetworksheets.org  I HIGHLY recommend Dave Ramsey.  Yes, it seems hard.  But, it is a LIFESAVER!!!  Here are some budget forms from his site.  DAVE RAMSEY BUDGET WORKSHEETS

Today submit and love your spouse.  Go through your finances together.  That alone will help spice up your marriage.

MUCH LOVE.

“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.”

Genesis 3:6

Today there is no blog on good morning girls.

There was DELIGHT in her EYES, and the DESIRE to be WISE.  Us humans will do about anything to be wiser. Especially if it is as easy as eating a fruit.  I have to admit, that would be a delight in my eyes and a desire.  We all wish that we knew more than we do.  But there are times when our desires are not what God’s desires are.  And did you catch the second half of the verse?  She gave it to her husband!  And he also ate it.  So, since she did wrong she didn’t want to go alone.  It was not just her fault though.  Adam was with her when she ate the fruit.  There is no writing telling us of Adam telling her not to.

How many times do we blame our spouse for things so we can take the blame off of ourselves?

In verse 12 in chapter 3 Adam told God in the garden that it was the woman’s fault.  Then in verse 13 the woman blamed the serpent.  Our actions that we do without our spouse is just as much the other persons fault.  We are as one.  Genesis 2:24 tells us that once married we leave our parents and become one with our spouse.  So, next time you want to get upset at your spouse for something, think about the whole scenario.  Did you remind your spouse today that you love them?  Did you remind them why you married him/her?  How bout do something spontaneous today!!

Today tell your spouse you are sorry.  I am sure you have done something that struck a nerve.  Think about the day and what you have said or done.  Make sure that you remember; spouse sins=you are sinning also.  Pray for your spouse continuously.

MUCH LOVE

week 3

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”

 2 Corinthians 10:5

There is no blog link to Good Morning Girls today.

Today we read 2 Corinthians 10:1-5.  Putting our focus on verse 5 is strong and bold.  We as Christians need to be confidence in our faith.  We need to be bold with our voice.  In verse 2 Paul writes “I beg of you that when I am present I may not have to show boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh.”  Paul is stating that he is hoping that he does not have to be stern in his faith.  He is stating he will NOT live how everyone else is living and he will NOT change.  He is standing his ground.  Paul is telling us and warning us that we need to be stern.  Stand our ground.  Know the difference from wrong and right.  In order to know, we need to fill our minds with the word of God.

Be Strong and Bold for God.  Stand your ground and know what is right.

MUCH LOVE!!

week 3

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”  Philippians 4:8

Click HERE for today’s lesson at goodmorninggirls.org

Today’s blog pretty much sums it up.  The application that I wrote this week for myself was…

1.  Stay Focused on what is good.

2.  Don’t agree with the world just because there would be no confrontation.

mind

We all go through the day and see how the world does things.  And in our human natural minds; we “follow”  what the world is doing.  Take a book for instance.  There have been books that are inappropriate for adults and teens.  Talking about affairs, killing, cheating, lying, revenge, etc.  The list could go on and on.  What do you think that does to our minds when we do read it?  It corrupts it and eventually we think about it.  Next, we are ok with it.  Then we are having the affairs, lying, and getting revenge on people.  We corrupt our brain with watching marriages fail due to lies and think it’s ok because it is so easy to get a divorce.   Let’s put love and fight for our relationships back in our hearts.  You married the man of your dreams for a reason.  (If your a man…Woman of your dreams)  Show each other you care and fight for the good not the bad.

Today focus on your mind.  What is it filled with?  Is it filled with love? Anger? Resentment? Pain? What are you going to do to get Philippians 4:8 in your mind and pour out of your soul?  And all of you that are married; Be an example!! Make the world jealous to want your marriage.  Let the world see how happy you are.  Make them ask you “How are you and your spouse so happy?”  Make sure you tell them you put God in the equation.

MUCH LOVE!!
