weight loss challenge

90 Day Challenge:  I am not sure what day we are on and I apologize for not getting on here quicker.  I wanted to write this blog today, as I believe it relates to the challenges in our life.  Whether it is weight, health, trials, temptations, etc.  This blog was inspired by Casting Crowns new song Just Be Held.  It is on their new CD called Thrive.  I highly recommend this CD.  Every song is a wonderful inspiration and the song Thrive gets me pumped up on the way to work.

Do you have a storm you feel like you cannot get rid of?  How about the storm of your weight loss?  Do you feel like you are putting in everything and getting no results?  Are you feeling alone?  Have you just thought to “JUST BE HELD”??

just be held

Isaiah 41:10– “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-7– “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.  Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer.  Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.  And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.”

2 Corinthians 12:9– “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”  Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Hebrews 4:16– “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

God tells us to fear not, He is with us. (Isaiah 41:10)  He wants us to call out to Him when we need Him.  He wants us to look towards Him when we feel like our storm is too big for us.  I can say for myself that I don’t look to Him for everything I do.  I hate saying that, but I have to be honest.  I started working and since then I have ran into a lot of people that come in that are cussing and ranting about life.  And I am also working with people that do the same.  I realize now what my husband went through and still goes through at work.  I won’t say that I won’t be able to work because with God I have the strength to do all things.  I am just going to ask for more prayers and be more obedient to God not the world.

We go through life tending to think we can’t get through something, or certain opportunities that have come up we think “I can’t do this.”  I have been feeling this way since starting my job.  Yes, it has not been long that I have been working.  But, I have been stressed and have found myself getting sick and have a fever blister from stress.  My routine of working has subsided and I am now slipping away from God.  I have found my storm overwhelming me and I have not been focusing on God when the storm hits me like a hurricane.  Hebrews 4:16 tells us He is ALWAYS there in times of need.

pray strength

God wants us to focus on Him when we need Him.  Is there a time in your life right now that you need Him?  We are always in need for God, even when things are looking up.  (How do you thing you got to the looking up side anyway?)  It was God who helped you get there, God did it all.  Think about the 1 pound you lost or the day where you had so much energy that you don’t know where it came from.  You think that was you?  God gave you that energy to help you, He wants to help you, and He wants to help make your life less stressed.  We just need to turn our focus on Him and not ourselves.  Just remember when things seem they are at the worst, he is only making you strong for what is yet to come.  So, JUST BE HELD.

Enjoy this song

sorry face

First off, I want to apologize for not keeping up with our 90 day challenge.  And I am going to be honest; I don’t remember what day we are on.  (And I did not look it up either)  All I know is… I feel terrible not sticking with our plan to do this together.  I cannot express how terrible I feel.  I can give you my excuses, but they are just words.  To be honest, I still have had time to do it and have refused because I just didn’t “feel like it.”

  1. I started working.
  2. I had laundry to do.
  3. I wanted to watch TV.
  4. I wanted to go to bed at a decent time.
  5. I didn’t want to look at a computer screen.
  6. I wanted to be lazy.

You did notice my excuses all started with I, Right?  I hate to write this and it hurts my heart to write it that I did not put my blog followers before my own selfish needs.  I was selfish and I want to do better.  My blogs help me stay close to God and I get messages inspiring others and that warms my heart.  So, to those who have sent me a message about missing my blogs, I want to THANK YOU for waking me up.  YOU inspire me to keep on blogging.

Naturally we would talk about losing weight and getting healthy, but today I want to focus on what means the most to me.  GOD!  How many times in one day do you put your own needs in front of God?  How many in just one hour?  It is not easy.  We all have our own temptations throughout the day.  Do you ever think about others before your own selfish needs?  Do you have those moments where you feel your life is more important than your neighbor because she always looks like she has it together?  Who is she fooling; we all know she is faking it.  We all have had our times where we have faked being perfect because we don’t want people thinking differently of us.  But, what if I told you she has just as many faults (if not more) as you do?  No one on this earth is perfect.  We need to remember that.  Just because things seem a certain way does not mean that they are.  When is the last time you said hi to your neighbor?

Today, I want you to do something nice for someone you do not know.  Buy a drink for the car behind you in the drive thru, order some carnations for a coworker who has had a bad week, ask to take them out to lunch, or even go over to neighbors and ask if they need any yard work done to help them prepare for spring.  There are all kinds of things we can do for one another.  Let’s help each other, the worst they can say is no.  That is when we stand up tall and go to the next neighbor’s house.  Make it a family thing.  Start a new tradition with your family and start knocking on doors today.  Be the good Samaritan we read about in Luke 10:25-37.

Three bible verses to put on your heart today:

Psalm 119:36- Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

James 3:14- But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

James 3:16- For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

weight loss challenge

Not much on my mind today.  My husband and I went to the gun range and had a blast.  I didn’t do too badly.  I do want to say that even on days when you feel like you just can’t do or want to, your body is aching for you to do it.  Our minds try and talk us out of things that we really should be doing for our bodies.  How many times have you wrestled with yourself about food?  How about when you are at potluck?

Our bodies do not want the junk that most people tend to bring to such things.  Our bodies are not in tune with the fact of a buffet either.  Can you honestly say that after you eat these items you feel great?  I know when I was eating those “items” I felt miserable.  I felt like just going home getting into comfy clothes and lie in my chair and watch TV.  (Then the next day wonder why I didn’t have socks)  Our bodies get lazy because of the junk we put in it.  We make our metabolism weak.  We can blame our bodies, but what are you putting in it?  Are you putting in sugar and salty items?

Have you ever read the story of Daniel in chapter 1?  God tells us in this passage that vegetables and water is good for us.  Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were tested for 10 days on their diet (Vegetables and Water) against the King’s delicacies (and wine) for some of the chosen children of Israel.  At the end of the ten days Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah was of better appearance.  So they told the rest of the men to be on the diet Daniel was on and 10 days later they were better in appearance.  (If you have time read this story, it’s a great one.)

Now I am not saying don’t eat meat and I am also not saying God says you can’t eat meat.  All I am saying is we need our vegetables and water intake.  These are so important to our bodies.  It doesn’t just help us lose weight, but it helps our complexion and energy as well.  Can you tell me after you had some fruit and/or vegetables that you felt terrible?  Fruits and vegetables make us feel good.  If we get the right portions every day you will feel and look amazing.

weight loss challenge

I am going to warn you, I am not taking it lightly today.  You are either going to love me or hate me.  You may even throw your computer, phone, whatever you are using to read this.  I am not taking it lightly anymore.  I am tired of using excuses and teaching my family to be unhealthy.  I want to be a good example not a bad one.  If I would continue to eat like the world thinks we can, then I am not even thinking about my health or the health of my family.  Most women worry about our kids and husband.  Do you want to wake up one day and realize that if you would not have eaten out  or made the unhealthy choices, your husband, child, family member would not be unhealthy and now fighting harder just to keep on living?  So, before you keep reading you may want to take a deep breath and really think about your life.  Are you where you want to be?

stop making excuses

Ok, here we go, don’t forget I warned you!!  Are you still making excuses?  Are you still telling yourself you will just start Monday?  And then suddenly it is Thursday and you decide quickly, “I will start next Monday”?  We all go through trials in our life.  We see the “skinny” women and get mad at them.  We can keep beating ourselves up or we can stop making ourselves depressed and start making ourselves HEALTHY!!  How many times do you even look at yourself in the mirror?  Is it just a handful of times?  Do you avoid the mirror as much as you can because you are not happy by the way you look?  Then, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!  Stop telling yourself you can’t do something!  And stop using the excuse of God loves me the way I am, and so does my spouse.  God wants us to take care of our temple (Our bodies).  Yes, don’t get me wrong God loves you very much, but He wants you to take care of yourself also.  You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you! (Philippians 4:13)  Every time you tell yourself you can’t get healthy, you are telling God is not strong enough to change you!!!  Do you want to keep telling God He can’t do something?

start somewhere

It’s time to change.  It’s time to get feeling better, stop beating you up.  Stop looking at your spouse and kids mad, because he/she is eating whatever they want and you can’t.  (FYI-They are not healthy doing that)  Do you really want your kids to do exactly what you are doing?  Can you honestly say you are setting a perfect example for your spouse and kids?  Some of you have teenagers, which means, you do not have a lot of time to teach them to be healthy physically and spiritually.  And then there are little ones who right now look up to you as a hero, Are you teaching them to eat healthy?  Are you teaching them to take time to be in God’s word?  Or, are you letting them pick what they want to eat because you don’t want to hear the arguing, moaning, etc.?  Stop using that as an excuse to make YOUR day better.  Start teaching your kids and yourself to be healthy.

bad day

Start today by setting up a plan.  Get the whole family involved.  Tell them that you want to build a better relationship with God, each other, and yourself.  Ask the kids if there is something they want to change about themselves.  (They may want to eat healthy).  Talk to your spouse first about your personal struggles and ask him/her to help guide you through this.  Ask your spouse to join you.  Make a plan with your spouse of every evening before supper do a bible study to ask God for strength, involve the kids.  Have the kids tell you their thoughts.  I do realize that right away it will be hard to just stop your everyday routine and start eating healthier than you were.  But, slowly change your menu.   Use more vegetables, have a salad with dinner, make water the drink of choice, make the plates with smaller portions, etc.  There are a number of ways to change your menu at home.

dont lose faith

I know you probably want to curse me, and tell yourself “easier said than done”.  But, that is yet another excuse you keep making to yourself.  Stop being so hard on yourself, YOU CAN GET HEALTHY!  YOU CAN HELP YOUR FAMILY GET HEALTHY!  IT STARTS WITH YOU, ARE YOU READY?

Philippians 4:13– “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9– “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Ephesians 3:16– “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;”

Here are some goals and discussions that can start you on the right track of being a new and IMPROVED HEALTHY FAMILY…

  1. No soda.
  2. More vegetables.
  3. Fruit for breakfast.
  4. During a meal, talk about the reasons for healthy goals.
  5. Talk about how doing healthy activities keeps our body feeling great and growing strong.
  6. Encourage the kids to talk about their ideas about being healthy.
  7. Set a family date and time when you will have “Healthy Goals” night for the family.
  8. Discuss how important each person ideas are to helping the family pick a healthy goal.
  9. Ask each family member to think of healthy goals for the family and one for themselves.
  10. Take a walk with the family after you eat dinner, that doesn’t mean you get back to have ice cream.
  11. Before you go to store make a list of healthy foods (involve family), and just get what is on the list.  Avoid the chips, candy, and cake isles at all costs!! (If the little kids are asking for unhealthy things take time to show them the nutrition facts and explain so they understand).

The most important first step to changing family habits is to keep it positive and include everyone in the discussion.

Happy Goal Setting!!!!

weight loss challenge

If you have made your plans for this week please share.  I am going to put my physical and spiritual goals on here for the week.  What are your goals??

I am starting the Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 days workout.  She has it in weeks.  So, you do week one and then next Monday week two and so on.  It is on YouTube and I will put the link on my blog so you can click and get right to work.  I can tell you it is tough.  It is only 20 minutes, but that 20 minutes you are getting to work.  Everyone has 20 minutes in a day to stop everything and take care of your body.  I will say you will be sore.  But, remember you are sore because you are taking care of your body.  My step daughter does it with me.  We homeschool, so we use it as gym time. (Smiles)  We want to be good examples to our kids to get healthy.  What a great way to teach them is to have them do it with you.  Trust me they will be hurting, out of breath, and just as sore as you.

Link to Week 1 Jillian Michael’s RIPPED:

YOU CAN DO IT!!!! If I can, so can YOU!!

My spiritual goal this week is to read a book of the bible.  There are plenty of different books that have less than 8 chapters to read.  1-3 John has exactly 7 chapters.  I believe I am going to read a chapter a day for the next 7 days.  Pick out a book and read a chapter.  Here is a list to pray over and how many chapters in each book.  You can combine to make it 6 or 7 chapters.  Build your spiritual body while you’re getting physically fit.  Pray and ask God what book for you to read this week.  Then let me know what you are reading.  We can discuss what we are learning together.  Have an awesome day!!!

90 Day Challenge-Day 19

weight loss challenge

Yet another week has gone by and I have been researching on some other blogs that are about getting healthy as well.  Do you ever feel like you are losing your motivation?  Do you feel like you are getting slower and slower as you go along your day?  Here is a blog I just happened to come across and wanted to share with you.  Her name is Shelia and her blog page is…

On her page she talks about each of the 10 things she listed.  I wrote down some things for each category.

 1.       Wear Clothes That Fit that You Feel Good In

I know we all want to get in that pair of skinny jeans or tank top.  But, if you wear them and don’t feel comfortable, your posture is going to be slouchy throughout the day.  Wear something that is going to make you stand up tall and feel good about yourself.

2.       Pamper Your Body

Really take some time to rub in that lotion on your body after your hot steamy shower.  We need the moisture for our body. Especially right now (Its winter as I write this).  Sit in your room with just the candles lit and just relax your mind.  Make your alone time with God with some candles lit and time for soothing and meditation.  Candles are an awesome feeling of calmness.

3.       Pretend You’re at a Job (If You’re Not)

How often do people work harder at work than they do at home?  We seem to always work harder at our “jobs” because we want that promotion, raise, time off, or whatever it is to impress the boss.  We should be continuing to work just as hard outside of work as well.  If we are working hard at everything we will take that extra time of pampering our bodies.

4.       Do Things Faster

Me personally I feel this links with #3.  When you have gained weight or feel unhealthy that day we tend to move slower.  But if we keep moving fast and getting things done, we tend to stay focused on our health.

5.       Stand More

I have heard this several times in my life.  I have also heard that if you are standing instead of sitting you are burning more calories.  Take time to stand longer every day.  Grab a book and stand for half the chapter, or do like Shelia did and make a higher desk area in the kitchen for your laptop.  Burn those calories while you’re on Facebook, Instagram, Blogging, or whatever you get on your computer for.

6.       Identify ONE big change you can make

Always set goals.  Make them small and work your way up.  Every Monday on my 90 Day Challenge Blog I put the goals to try for that week.  I make them small and work our way up.  If you don’t want to do the goals I have make your own up.  Share your goals, you may have some that no one else has thought of and would like to try.

7.       Set a Reward

And NO I am NOT saying if you lose a pound you may have that bowl of ice cream.  Give yourself time.  Say after you lose 5 pounds I am going to reward myself with a pedicure.  Try NOT to make your reward about food.  We are to CRAVE GOD remember not food.

8.       Stretch

I cannot stress this enough.  When you are working out, we get sore.  If you are sitting and watching TV take the time to stretch.  We need to stretch our muscles.  Stretching should always be part of our daily routine.  It helps prevent injuries, and also those dreadful cramps.  Ever get a Charlie horse?  They are not comforting and then you are more than likely not going to work out again.  You will always remember the pain not the results you will get if you stick with it, so always be stretching.  If you do a 30 minute workout, make sure you do about 5 minutes of stretching AFTER your workout.  NEVER stretch cold muscles.  Also Yoga stretches can be very beneficial. It may not make you skinnier, but stretching can improve your posture and then you will look thinner and carry yourself like a thin person.

9.       Make Love

We have heard it all before.  But, along with your workout, meditations, stretching, make love to your spouse.  That is more calories to burn.  Making love makes your body feel amazing.  You can even make this into pampering time with your spouse.  This will keep your marriage on fire and your body feeling wonderfully and beautifully made.

10.   Focus on the Long Haul

If you are wanting to lose 20 pounds or more, don’t assume you will lose it in a month.  These pills and diet programs are false.  If you are going to do it healthy take your time.  Focus on 2-5 pounds a month.  I know when you start working out you want it gone NOW.  But, something that is hard for me… BE PATIENT.  Getting healthy takes time and dedication.  You must be focused and ready for the trials to come.

Make sure you go to Shelia’s blog.  She explains her 1-10 and I am sure she has points that I did not cover that can help you.  I want to end today with some bible verses.

James 1:2-4 “consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (Think of those skinny jeans reading this verse)

Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Think of those cramps, pain your muscles feel)

Psalm 5:1-3 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.  Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.  In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” (Think about replacing your cravings)

90 Day Challenge- Day 18

weight loss challenge

Here lately I have been wondering if having a hunger and being hungry are in the bible.  So, my heart was leading me to look up hunger and hungry scriptures.  I found 5 verses for each word…

                                Hunger                                              Hungry

                          Isaiah 49:10                                        Psalms 107:9

                        Matthew 5:6                                          Proverbs 25:21

                          Luke 6:21                                              Isaiah 58:7

                          John 6:35                                              Luke 1:53

                      I Corinthians 4:11                                Philippians 4:12

What do you think of when you hear the words hunger or hungry?  Most people think about food, but as I read through the above verses, that is not what God is talking about.  God is talking about our hunger for Him.  Remember Day 2 when I talked about craving God and had a sign that you could print out?  Well guess what the definition of hunger is?  You got it- it means having a strong desire or craving for.  What are you hungry for?  Is it food, miscellaneous things, or God?  We should be filling ourselves with the CRAVE of GOD.

Matthew 5:6 and Luke 6:21 talks about being hungry and you shall be filled, but only be hungry for righteousness.  I don’t believe I have seen a bag of chips say righteousness on it.  Or, any other food for that matter.  This is because God wants us to crave His righteousness.  When you think of that bag of chips or bowl of ice cream to conquer that “sweet” tooth you think you have, go to God and get “sweet” talk from God.  We are all on trial and God is the Judge and the Prosecutor.  Are you ready to stand before Him spiritually and physically?  Can you hear Him saying to you “Well done my faithful and obedient servant.”  Imagine you at His feet talking to Him.  Are you telling Him…? “Thank you for helping me through my trials of being physically and spiritually healthy, I could not have gone through it without You.  You gave me strength when I was at my weakest points.”  Or Are you “thinking” (because you are ashamed to say it out loud) that “I wish I had done better.”

The Olympics are starting and I love watching all those athletes working hard at what they love to do.  They don’t train overnight, not even a year.  They train for years and years.  It’s something they are passionate about.  I watched the stories last night of a few Olympiads (something called being a parent of an Olympian-forgot the exact name).  The family and the Olympian showed how much support you need to stick with it.  It shows having the accountability and support is an extremely important asset.  One girl had meningitis and lost both her legs from the knees down.  Do you think that stopped her?  NO, she kept working hard at staying and keeping healthy with the support of her parents.  There were injuries and hardships that all of them faced, but not one quit.  They trained and focused and are now ready to run that race.  When was the last time you were passionate about something?  Or think about what you are REALLY passionate about.  What is keeping you from finishing your race?  Those Olympians have lives, jobs, family, friends, etc.  But, they made time for their passion to run their race.  Think of what you’re passionate about and write some things down.  Those passions could keep you from “craving” that food you think you want.  Today let’s get passionate, let’s run our race, let’s CRAVE GOD.

90 Day Challenge- Day 17

Posted: February 5, 2014 in 90 day Challenge

weight loss challenge

We are on Day 17, how are you doing on your spiritual goals? I am going through my notes for bible lessons and ran across Judges 10: 6-16.  I wanted to share some things with you as I think it goes right along with our 90 day challenge.

First off Judges 10:6-16 says, “Then the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the Lord and did not serve Him. So the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and into the hands of the people of Ammon. From that year they harassed and oppressed the children of Israel for eighteen years—all the children of Israel who wereon the other side of the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, in Gilead. Moreover the people of Ammon crossed over the Jordan to fight against Judah also, against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was severely distressed.

10 And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, saying, “We have sinned against You, because we have both forsaken our God and served the Baals!”

11 So the Lord said to the children of Israel, “Did I not deliver you from the Egyptians and from the Amorites and from the people of Ammon and from the Philistines? 12 Also the Sidonians and Amalekites and Maonites oppressed you; and you cried out to Me, and I delivered you from their hand. 13 Yet you have forsaken Me and served other gods. Therefore I will deliver you no more. 14 “Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress.”

15 And the children of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems best to You; only deliver us this day, we pray.” 16 So they put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel.”

WOW!! Did you catch all that?  There are 4 things that I caught right off the bat…

  1. We are God’s Voice
  2. Man’s rebellionàGod’s Grace
  3. AccountabilityàDoes it exist?
  4. Turn back from God=God will let go

Sinners are saved by grace.  Sin was not with Adam and Eve when they were walking around the Garden of Eden.  Sin happened after the serpent talked Eve into eating the fruit.  (Of course he used food)  God does NOT let our sin slide.  We have to suffer our consequences with Him.  Have you been sweeping your sins under your rug?  I’m here to tell ya, you can sweep and sweep and those blisters on your hands from sweeping or the pile under the rug are eventually going to be “seen” by the people around you.  No matter how bad you “cover up” your sin, it does not matter that you have “hid” it from your spouse, parent, friend, etc.  You can NOT hide it from God.  And when you sin, just you alone, you and your family around you are suffering.  It is NOT only you who is taking the consequences; your whole household is suffering with you.  God chooses our consequences, not you.  I don’t know about you, but that alone freaks me out.

Moses NEVER stepped in the Promise Land because of that one moment.  His ANGER!  Earlier in scripture Moses broke the Ten Commandments. (I believe Exodus 32)  Then, 38 years of leading stubborn people through the wilderness, Moses, failed again.  (Numbers 20:8-11) Moses’s anger is what we see here and it was not a reflection of God.  It was human frustration. Do you ever get frustrated with yourself when you have eaten something unhealthy?  Think about that woman’s bumper sticker, “I only have one nerve left, and you are starting to get on it.”  Moses was fed up—and he didn’t care at this point who knew it. The people were complaining about lack of water, AGAIN!  In Exodus 14:6, Moses was told to strike the rock and water would be provided.  This time, however, he was to only speak to the rock.  But Moses was angry and disobeyed.  Moses ended up striking the rock, which ended up leading him into NOT seeing the Promised Land.   Let’s try our best to NOT strike that rock, and give our frustration to the Lord instead.  Then we can feel like we are in the promised land. (Healthy Physically and Spiritually)

Not everyone is serious about crying out to the Lord.  Verse 10 in Judges says it took the children of Israel 18 years to cry out to the Lord.  But, there is a difference in crying out to the Lord.  I’m Sorry vs. Repentance.  I’m sorry is just telling someone oops I was caught, but you can still not mean it.  You’re just sorry you got caught.  Repentance is telling God you have done wrong and you are ready to take the consequences He has for you.  Verse 15 says to tell God that you will take punishment for your sins to whatever God sees fit.

God explanation

What are some gods you need to get rid of?  Is it food, internet, TV, life is just too busy, etc.?  Whatever it is that is keeping you from being in God’s word to help you get healthy and to stay motivated in exercise, give it up!  What is something you can give up for the rest of the week to focus on God?  What is it that you can drop and talk to God about your failures and are ready to stop and take responsibility?  Don’t wait 18 years or more to tell God how sorry you are and that you were wrong.  Stop beating yourself up and letting the enemy get a hold of you by telling you “that bag of chips is ok, It’s only 1 day.”  Get your boxing gloves on and knock out the enemy.  And I mean as you are winding up throw scripture at him and send him on his way.  Put God up high on your “to do” list and shout glorious words that you won’t ever regret.  You will regret saying, eating, or doing something in favor of satan.  But, God you will NEVER regret.

weight loss challenge

Day 16!!! Are you still working hard at being HEALTHY and CONQUERING 2014?  It may feel like we have been trying “forever” to get physically healthy, but yes you read right.  It is day 16!!  Today, I want you to really focus on your spiritual goals.  Did you read Joshua?  How would you feel if you were Joshua?  Joshua had a lot on his plate.  The Israelites were stubborn.  But, I can tell you we go through what he went through.  Can you honestly say you are not stubborn?  We can read the story and wonder why on earth would they just disobey and not listen?  Why would they turn their backs against God?  Here is a question we need to ask ourselves, why do we turn our backs on God?

I don’t know about you but I do not want to suffer the consequences they did in Chapter 7.  The Lord’s fury puts me back into place every time.  I start thinking more about my body and how He provided this body just for me.  Not anyone else to take care of, Just Me!  He trusted me to care for my body the way that I should.  He trusts me to be physically and spiritually fit.   Joshua did EVERYTHING for God.  Everything that we do, we should also do for God.  Can you say today you did everything for HIM?  If you can’t start NOW!! You are never too late.  He will guide you to get physically and spiritually fit.  He will give you that momentum you needed for that last bit of your workout.  I can honestly say He has provided me with a lot of motivation during my workouts.  Just when I think I can’t go any further, I surprise myself and am able to finish strong.  That is all God, not me!!

I want to leave you with a devotion I read today (the duck dynasty commander devotional) and a song called Do Everything by Steven Curtis Chapman.

Devotional: Faith to Meet the Challenge

Then the Lord said to satan, “Have you considered my servant Job?  There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” Job 1:8

“Have you ever been sitting in an audience and some performer starts pulling people onstage for whatever reason?  Am I the only one who wishes I could turn invisible at that moment?  God called out Job and brought him to satan’s attention and offered him as a testing ground—because he trusted his heart and his strength.  Job ended up facing a lot of trials and tribulations, but through it all, he never lost his integrity.  When trials come into your life, remember that God is in control.  Perhaps—just perhaps—He has allowed this trial because He trusts your faith and knows your strength.  And though the trial may hurt like the dickens and weaken you with its intensity, always know that God will provide a way out and that He’s with you every step of the way.”—Al Robertson

God knows our strengths, our weaknesses, and our heart.  He knows what will make us or break us.  He knew Job would not fail the trials, God also knows we will not fail Him either.  He is always right beside us holding our hand waiting for us to call out to Him to get us through.  Call out to Him; He always has your back.

weight loss challenge

Alright we are on day 15, How is everyone doing?  How was everyone’s weekend?  My weekend was great! I took the kids to Home Depot to a free kids workshop.  If you are not aware, the first Saturday of every month Home Depot has a free kid’s workshop.  They get to build an object, paint it, and get to take it home.  Last month was a desk calendar and this month was a race car.  Below are some pictures.  If you get the time please take your kids.  They even have a women’s workshop on the third Thursday of every month as well.  I will be going this month, we are making a mirror.

Do you ever wake up and as you are trying on clothes you are thinking to yourself, “Does this make me look fat?”  You ask your husband because you need those encouraging words to get you through the day.  You need to hear that compliment to make you stand up taller, and feel like you have worked hard to get that couple of pounds you have lost the last 2 weeks.  (You did realize this is going into week 3, Right?)  Have you stepped on the scale and seen those numbers and accepted them?  Or do you still feel depressed after stepping off?  Here is a quote from Lysa TerKeurst, “If we make the choice to be Jesus girls who offer our willingness to exercise self-control and perseverance to the glory of God, we can lose weight, get healthy, and walk in confidence that it is possible to escape the cycle of losing and gaining back again.  We can be victorious.  We can step on the scale and accept the numbers for what they are—an indication of how much our body weighs—and not an indication of our worth.”  When you look at those numbers that is not what you are worth.  You are a beautiful Jesus girl who is doing her best to get healthy again.  I was weighing myself daily and at first I was losing weight fast, then all of a sudden I gained 2 of my pounds back.  I started feeling down, but then I focused on God to help me get through this.  I needed His strength to get me over this hump that I thought I was feeling.  Turns out there were no humps, there was no huge hill to climb, and there was only this imaginary mountain I was personally climbing to make it harder on myself.  It did not matter what the numbers said.  It does not matter that I had gained 2 of my 4.6 pounds back.  All that mattered is that I kept my focus on God and myself.  If I let the enemy defeat me because of 2 little pounds, what does that say about my faith?  I made a sign that you can put above your scale.  I know sometimes when you look down at those numbers you make it to what you are worth.  You’re disappointed in yourself, and think you are pathetic for letting yourself get to where you are.  Believe me; I am there with you some days.  I want you to not EVER think that number is what you are worth.  You are worth so much more through the eyes of God.  He made you the way you are.  If you focus on the number on the scale as what you are worth then, you will continually be defeated.  I want you to know that Jesus is standing right beside you telling you, “You are Beautiful, and I love you for who you are, not what you think you should be.” Keep your focus on God.

JESUS GIRL SIGN  (Print this out for above your scale)

Alright now, how are you doing with your goals?  I am going to throw in some spiritual goals this week.  We need to always stay focused on God during our times of struggle.  I don’t know about you, but I can’t do anything alone.  I need God to guide me.  During this physical and spiritual journey we need to stay focused on God, He is the one who is giving us our strength every day to get motivated.  But, remember, He only will give you that motivation if you are praying and giving all your burdens to Him.
