You might not finish this Chapter

“A man by his sin may waste himself, which is to waste that which on earth is most like God.  This is man’s greatest tragedy and God’s heaviest grief.” A.W.Tozer

In this chapter, Chan reminds us that our life is nothing but a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. (fog)  (James 4:13). Yet many of us walk around like this “movie” is all about us. It is NOT!! God is the producer, director, writer, and the star. We are the extras, here to play a specific role in the movie that is called, “God’s Disciples’”

1. Has Chapter 1 changed your “life view?” If so, how?

2. If it has changed your life view, how can you stay focused on this new view?

3. Do you REALLY think you could vanish at any minute?  That perhaps you will die today?  Or do you instead feel somehow you are invincible?

“Intellectually we all know that we will die, but we do not really know it in the sense that the knowledge becomes a part of us.  We do not really know it in the sense of living as though it were true.  On the contrary, we tend to live as though our lives would go on forever.”

Frederick Buechner

This week’s homework:

1. Read Chapter 2.

2. Watch Balance Beam video:

3. Then answer questions for Chapter 2.

P.S. – Please don’t hesitate to comment.   I hope that more of you will chime in this week. If you have any suggestions or comments on how to improve the discussion, let me know!

Praying for you all,
